Fourth of July Celebration: Dover DE
The Dover Fourth of July Celebration kicks off the morning of the 4th with a historic scavenger hunt in downtown Dover. Use trivia-themed clues to uncover the right founding facts about Delaware at the First State Heritage Park Welcome Center and Galleries.
Guided tours will be held throughout the day at several other Dover museums and attractions, and festival attendees have two chances to catch the ringing of the Old State House bell at 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, representing Delaware’s participation as one of the 13 original colonies.
Dover’s Fourth of July Celebration ends with a bang (well actually, quite a few), with a special firework show set to music from Broadway’s recent hip-hop sensation Hamilton.
Independence Day Celebration: Bethany Beach DE
On Tuesday, July 4th, the town of Bethany Beach will be abuzz with excitement at their annual Independence Day Celebration.
Delaware locals are encouraged to create their own floats to participate in this year’s parade that fit the theme, “Bethany Beach Celebrates,” a combination of appreciation for Bethany’s sun, surf, and sand and our nation’s red, white, and blue.
The parade steps off at noon, with floats being joined by horse-drawn carriages and one dozen talented bands dressed in their colonial best.
Head to the Bandstand at 2:30 PM for a live show of “Art Thou Smarter than a 5th Grader” with guest host reenactor and famous connoisseur on the one and only Benjamin Franklin, Brian Patrick Mulligan. Fireworks launch at dusk over Bethany Beach!
4th of July Fireworks & Liberty Day: Newark DE
Newark, DE, area residents can get their fill of patriotic activities, eats, and performances at the University of Delaware Athletic Complex on Tuesday the 4th at Newark’s Liberty Day bash.
